As you probably know our rector, Mr Matheson, spent some time in
New Zealand and we thought you might be interested in hearing a little
about his childhood there.
Mr Matheson was born in Edinburgh in Scotland. When he was five he
moved to Dunedin. The first school he went to was George Street
Normal School but he moved to Otago Boy's High School when he was older.
When he went to Otago Boy's High School the uniform was shorts, blazers and caps with bobbles on top. The older boys pulled them off. When a pupil was bad they got caned, Mr Matheson still has the scars.
He can't remember Queen's High School. Was it there then?
Mr Matheson still has very many fond memories of friends he had out
there and gave us some names.

Mr Mathson's brother is still out in New Zealand.
Mr Matheson has some questions to ask you:
- Are there still trout in the River Leith?
- Are there still trolly buses and cable cars?
- Do you still have a intermediate school between primary and high school?
