"WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?"

Shaw House & Pakuranga

Shaw House School Newbury

  • I know that people who come from New Zealand are called Kiwis and that the Kiwi bird is your national emblem I have tried Kiwi fruit and like it but I do not know if it is anything to do with your country. I know that some of the sports your country is involved in are rugby and cricket.I also know that New Zealand is made up of two islands the southern island is much the same as Britain climate wise and the northern island is much warmer. I also know that welcome or hello in New Zealand is Kia-ora.
    Kelly Robinson

  • I like to watch rugby and think that the England Rugby Team are the best. I know of Johna Lomu (I hope I spelt it right) He's 18 stone or so, and can run the 100m sprint in about 11 seconds. WOW!!!! But we've got some good players over here who can play good rugby. So watch out in the next rugby world cup.

  • I do not know alot about New Zealand I only know a few things like you speak Moari, and you are really into rugby and cricket, the nearest country to you is Australia, and your national symbol is a kiwi. This is all I know about New Zealand.

  • We believe that your native costume consists of leaves and bushes, (just joking !). Really I think you probably just wear jeans like us. Your ancient native costume is a mystery to me. In the stories it all has to do with nights in shining armour and princesses in long flowing gowns.

  • I know the England is an island like New Zealand, and I think that it is in the Atlantic Ocean. You have millions more people than us (we have just under 4 million) but about the same sized country.
    Yours sincerely, Grace Edwards

  • Hello. Britain is made up of two main islands. One island is Ireland and the other is England and Scotland. You look like humans.
from Eugene Lee and Simon Chui

  • To Shaw House fellow Interlinkers, greetings and all that jazz. We're going to answer your questions. We don't think it is an island. We don't think it is more than one island. It is attached to Ireland. People have been living there for centuries longer than New Zealand has had European occupants.

We think that some are fair skinned, some are dark skinned (from Africa), a lot of people are below the poverty line. We think most of them speak English but Great Britain consists of many languages, including Irish and Scottish.
    from David

  • I think that Britain is a reasonable sized country who any body would like to live in. Britain is not an island but it has neighbouring countries. Britain is in the Northern part of the world. One thing that I know is that it must be FREEZING!
Kumail Rashid - the questions that I do not know the answer to I hope I'll find the answer to later. During the Interlink programme.
