"WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?"

Milne's & Queen's

Milne's High School Inverness

  • We think New Zealand is about as big as Britain, is more than one island and is not attached to any other country

  • We think New Zealand is near Australia and has around eight million people living there.

  • New Zealanders look like us but have more of a tan and they speak Australian English.

  • You paint your faces do dances and own sheep.

  • Your national costume is that you either dress up as a kiwi or wear shorts and T-shirts, wear sandals on your feet and wear hats with corks hanging down.

  • We think your country is a couple of milleniums old.

  • We do not know anything about the history of New Zealand.

  • Your countryside is basically palm trees, mountains, beaches and deserts.

  • Your climate is hotter than Scotland.

G'day mate! Your e-mail friends!

Queen's High School Dunedin

We have divided the class into three groups because it is easier....

Kia Ora, Milnes High!

  • We think that Scotland is bigger than the South Island of New Zealand.

  • We guess that there is about 5 million people in your country.

  • We think you are a multicultural country.

  • Our thoughts on your traditional dress are that you wear kilts and pompom hats.

KIA ORA, FROM YOUR KIWI FRIENDS.

  • We estimated that you have millions of people living in your country and we've been told you have pale skin, and that most of you come from European races.

  • We think your ancestors had long hair, wore kilts, did the highland fling, played the bagpipes and were sheep farmers (we learnt this from "Braveheart")

  • We imagine that your country has lots of big green hills, lots of stone walls and castle-like buildings, and thatched crofts with whitewashed walls.

  • We think that your climate is cold, wet and misty with a little bit of sun.

Group 2

Kia Ora young lassies and lads,

  • We reckon that about ten million people live there and they wear kilts and gumboots all the time?

  • There are probably lots of farmers. We think your history is all about clans and villages and conflicts with english soldiers (we have seen "Braveheart").

this is the third group writing to you and now signing off, See you! :)
