Queen's High School Dunedin
We have divided the class into three groups because it is easier....
Kia Ora, Milnes High!
- We think that Scotland is bigger than the South Island of New Zealand.
- We guess that there is about 5 million people in your country.
- We think you are a multicultural country.
- Our thoughts on your traditional dress are that you wear kilts and pompom hats.

and Rachael
KIA ORA, FROM YOUR KIWI FRIENDS.
- We estimated that you have millions of people living in your
country and we've been told you have pale skin, and that most of you come
from European races.
- We think your ancestors had long hair, wore kilts, did the highland
fling, played the bagpipes and were sheep farmers (we learnt this from
"Braveheart")
- We imagine that your country has lots of big green hills, lots of stone
walls and castle-like buildings, and thatched crofts with whitewashed
walls.
- We think that your climate is cold, wet and misty with a little bit
of sun.
Group 2
Kia Ora young lassies and lads,
- We reckon that about ten million people live there and they wear kilts and
gumboots all the time?
- There are probably lots of farmers. We think your history is all about clans and villages and conflicts with english soldiers (we have seen
"Braveheart").
this is the third group writing to you and now signing off,
See you! :)
Now take a look at Milne's responses to these first impressions! Find out what Scotland's REALLY like!
