"WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?"

Mereway & Heretaunga

Mereway Middle School Northampton

Perceptions of New Zealand:

  • Very hot climate

  • Palm trees and beaches, tropical rainforests

  • People sit and eat outside at restaurants, the main dish served at a restaurant would be fish

  • The people would be very sun tanned

  • Some people speak Mowri

  • Very bleak countryside

Take a look at Heretaunga's responses to Mereway's first impressions! Find out what life is REALLY like in New Zealand!

We think that.......

  • In Britain they speak English with accents that are strange to us. There are many accents even within small distances.

  • The houses are old and of an older style than seen in New Zealand. They often have two storeys and no front or back gardens like Coronation Street.

  • Their rugby teams are not as good as ours as the All Blacks are the best.

  • While they make boring television programmes in Britain they have really cool bands.

  • The animals associated with Britain are corgis and extraordinarily fat cattle.
