"WHAT WE'RE REALLY LIKE"
Manchester, England
|
Highlights from Ducie High School Moss-Side, Manchester
Well here we go with our replies to your what you think we're like. Something tells me that some of our colleagues over there were none too happy with some of our ideas. Please don't take offense, it was ignorance really, nothing else. Hopefully by the end of this project we will know a lot more about New Zealand and, I hope, the Maori Culture and its history.
Ian Jackson, teacher
- Manchester is a cold place. It has two football teams, Manchester United
and Manchester City. It has got a population of about 100,000.
Eman Ali
- In winter the average temperature is about 4 degrees C and in summer about 20 degrees C. Manchester is home to some of the world's greatest bands such as Simply Red, Take That and Oasis.
Andrew Robinson
- It is very wet in Autumn and Winter but can get very warm in the Summer. we have got many sites of interest such as the museums and other attractions. See our site on our webpages about Manchester for other information.
Graham Watt
- Manchester is quite a big city, the third largest in England. It is not all
like Coronation Street or EastEnders, anymore than New Zealand is like
Shortland Street! In the Pennines, a set of hills over to the East, they get snow but even then only very rarely.
Rosa Battle
- First of all up here in Manchester we are not snobby! We leave that to the
southerners! There are large areas of countryside very close to the city, the Pennines in the East and the Cheshire plains to the west/south. Heartbeat isn't on any more!
Christian Morrisy
- We don't have a traditional national dress, but here in the North we have a
tradition of the Morris Men who dress up in white shirts with straps across
the front, flat caps and clogs. They dance around a man, called the fool,
who has a pig's bladder inflated on a stick. This is supposed to bring good
luck and good harvests, however it wasn't good luck for the Pig!!!!!!
Michael Greenwood
- England has lots of cities but also quite a lot of countryside. By the way
we don't watch Coronation Street all the time. We don't spend all our time
in the pub, (you have to be 18 to drink) and I don't eat Fish and chips all
the time.
