READ BETWEEN THE LINES
All our countries have produced popular authors. Ask the people in your class what they are reading. Work out a way of surveying, recording and presenting information on the type, author, genre, amount, or topic that people in your age group are reading.
Survey people in your class, school or on the net. Record your information and choose some way of presenting your results.
- Did you come across any English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh or NZ authors?
- What sort of topic did these authors write about - were the scenes and characters they wrote about uniquely New Zealand or British?
- Do we read more or less or different books in winter than in summer?
See if you can find the best seller list for 1996 or an even more current one.
