A typical weekday, for daygirls at Rangi Ruru:

We usually get up between 6.30 and 7.30 am, and get ready for school. We either bus, walk, bike or are driven to school. The bell rings at 8.30 and we go to our form classes for form time. Form time finishes at 8.40.

Most days we have 5 periods but sometimes we have 6. The subjects we have are: English, Maths, Science, Social Studies, 2 languages, Music, Christian Living, Home Ec., PE. You can either bring lunch or buy it from the cafe, or get a boarders lunch.

School finishes at 3.30 except for Wednesdays when we finish at 2.30 for sport. After school we usually go home, do homework and watch TV - some of our classes favourite programmes are, The Simpsons, Friends, The X-files, ER, Early Edition. etc.

A typical weekend for daygirls at Rangi Ruru:

Most of us wake up from 10:00 onwards (it depends on what time we went to bed the night before) Some people who are in sport teams wake up at various times from 8:00. I suppose next we have breakfast and then have a shower and get dressed. We either stay at home or go out to the movies, ice-skating, to the mall, go to friends' houses, horse riding, swimming, camping etc. Oh, yeah, we also do our homework!! We do basically what what we feel like on that particular weekend. We watch T.V. at night if there is anything good on. Then we go to bed from about 10:00 onwards.

A typical weekday in the boarding house at Rangi Ruru:

The day starts off with a wake up call from the house tutors at 7:00am then people have showers and go to breakfast. At breakfast everyone sits with there friends. After breakfast everyone gets ready for school.

At about 8:20am most people start heading to school. The boarding house is right on the grounds it is only a matter of walking down the stairs and out the door (school starts at 8:30am). We collect our lunch from the boarding house at lunch time. After school you are free to do what you want. Lots of people play sports and you are allowed to go into town once a week. We have dinner at 5:45pm.

After dinner we have free time until 7:00pm when prep starts prep goes till 8:00pm. Bedtime is 9:15pm but no one goes to sleep then that is when you really get to know some people in your dorm.

A typical weekend in the boarding house at Rangi Ruru:

In the weekend it is a totally different story. For one thing nothing is quite as formal and there is no strict routine. We get up at 8:00am and have breakfast in our pjamas then we are allowed to go into town or go to a movie or anything we can think of to do. We then have lunch at 12:00pm after lunch we can once again do bacisiclly anything.

Dinner is at the sametime as weekdays. After dinner we can watch T.V. get a movie out etc... Bedtime is 10:00 to 11:00pm it just depends.
