"A DAY IN THE LIFE......"

St Peter's School's view of Opotiki, New Zealand

Dia daoibh, a chairde,

Hi all of you in Opotiki

Life in New Zealand on Monday morning

I think on a Monday morning you would get up and get ready for school at about 8.00am and go off to school at about 8.30am. I think school starts at 9.00am and at 9.10am you go to class. Then I think you learn a lot of subjects, but I'm not quite sure what they are! I'm sure that you learn English, Maths, Geography and History; probably Science and P.E. I'm not too certain what languages you do, but you probably do Maori, maybe French or German, or Spanish too. Maybe you even do Japanese because of Emigration.

I would say school in New Zealand would be great because of the weather. The sun would be shining all year round; it would be great. At about mid-day you would get your lunch. After lunch you would start class again. School would end at about 3.10pm. You would go home, get a bite to eat, watch some t.v and after that you would go out for a while. Then you would come in and go to bed around 10.30pm.

Life in New Zealand on saturday morning

I think saturday in New Zealand would be great because of the weather. On saturday you would get up get ready to the town for a while. When you come back from the town you would get your dinner then go out to a disco or rave later on in the evening.

But here in Ireland I get up on a saturday I go to work on a farm. I think it is good you learn different things each day. I go up to the farm each day I am off school . But now the cows are in and it is hard work to feed them first thing in the morning and last thing at night. In the summer the cows go out to the fields. It is a lot better.

Hear from you soon

A TYPICAL MONDAY AND SATURDAY FOR OPOTIKI STUDENTS

MONDAY: You would go to school by bus or by car every day. I think your school would be very big, and that both boys and girls would go to your school.

I think that school in Opotiki would be very good and that you would have a lot of fun. And l think that you would study History, Geography, English, Science, Art, Technology, Music, Maths and Computers. I think that your school would be the same as our school which is from; 8:55 to 3:20 that's what time every school here in "DERRY". I think the boys would play football or rugby for after school activities, and the girls do ballydancing.

SATURDAY: You would stay in your bed longing than usual because you might not have school on Saturdays, then when you did get up you would go to a club or go to the park where every one else would hang out. You would talk about things you did all week in school or out side school or talk about what you would do that night.

Then you would go shopping with friend's/ family, and that you would go to discos like we do on friday nights. And on your spare time you would listen to music or watch T.V. and the sports you would do would be Netball/ Dancing/ Football/ Rugby/ Sailing or swimming. And that you might go to visit museums or shops which are near you. And that you might go to Cinema to to watch movies which are good and exciting films and films that would last for a very long time, my best video is (BRAVE HEART).

And l think that you would go to sport centres which have indoor activities like, Football, Swimming, Tennis Netball or Dancing. And if had you had nothing to do and there was a football match or a rugby which would be very near you so you could go and watch it and support one of the team's which were playing and see if you know any of the people who are playing in the match which you are watching.
