- EATING OUT AND FAVOURITE FOODS -
THE GREAT INTERNATIONAL INTERNET
RECIPE SWAP/BAKE-OFF
Eating out is more common these days. Do you have any restaurants or takeaways in your region? Do you eat out at the homes of friends or relatives? What is one of the most unusual food outlets you have?
Explore some of the local food outlets to find out what are the most interesting, oddest or unusual meals they have on their menus. (Food outlets could include a relative who cooks you weird meals).
You and your pair school are about to have an international internet bake-off competition!!
Your task:
As a class you are to decide on an recipe for your pair school to bake. The recipe should be for something that is eaten in your country but is a bit unusual for your pair school. You will have to give details on how to go about making the recipe, how it is cooked and what ingredients to use.
(Keep in mind that your pair school will have to be able to get hold of the ingredients, so nothing too exotic).
If you can, get a picture or photograph of how the baking should look, hold on to this until after your pair school has finished their baking, this way your pair school can compare their baking attempt with the real thing.
Email your recipe to us and to your pair school and let the baking begin!!
Report back to your pair school on how you are going and what results you came up with Check each of your baking attempts with the picture of the real thing.
Some other things to think about are how were the recipes passed from one person to the next, was the recipe from a book or passed down from a family member or friend? How have modern cooking techniques and access to a wider range of ingredients changed what we eat today? What are the traditions that come with the recipes? What can we learn from looking at what is cooked and how it is cooked?
