The All Blacks team sends their warm greetings to all the students participating in the InterLink project. Congratulations on the work you have been doing and good luck for the future. We invite you to keep up with our gruelling 1997 test season, including a tour to the UK later this year, by visiting our site.

The New Zealand All Blacks

Hi, this is Ben Elton, writing from NZ where I'm currently touring. I heard about InterLink and wanted to say that it's fantastic how all you InterLinkers are sharing your life experiences with new friends on the other side of the world. Let's hope you get the chance to visit your partner country and meet up with your InterLink classmates one day in the future. Keep up the great work!

Ben Elton, incredibly famous British comedian!

Our kids will grow up very global, thanks to the Net and things like you are doing. I hope that in a few months, you will be able to have the same kind of inter-child communications with Africa and other parts of the developing world. Take a look at http://www.2b1.org on May lst.

Welcome to the Schools Interlink Project on the Internet. I am pleased to welcome you to this innovative project on the Internet because I believe the Internet is an ideal way of communicating, interacting and learning with people who could be anywhere from next door to the other side of the world.

As we enter a new 'information' age, it is a good time to build on the ties New Zealand and Britain have always had, despite what is often said to be the tyranny of distance that divides us. Tools like the Internet can break down that barrier, bringing us closer together and providing an exciting opportunity to learn about and from other cultures.

Hon Maurice Williamson, Minister of Communications, New Zealand

Hello, my name is Deborah Morris and I'm the Minister of Youth Affairs in New Zealand. I wish you all the best in your projects, and hope that this helps you gain contacts and friends with people in New Zealand or the UK. Have fun, and happy surfing.

A WELCOME TO INTERLINK

You may think that InterLink
Is just a school-time game.
But it's a blunder to see down under
As more of just the same.
Just remember our December
Is the same as your July,
It's a bummer that our summer
Is your winter, (have a cry).
Here's a warning that your morning
Is the middle of our night.
The noisome thing is when you ring
We'll all be out of sight.
But when you're taking to awaking
We'll recall that you're asleep,
And while you're fooling at your schooling
We'll all be counting sheep.

Your FX-ionately,

Peter Jackson, Director, Wingnut Films, New Zealand
